In 2015, Pixar will release two original films, Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur, with the former generating incredible buzz heading into its summer release. Frozone Will Reportedly Return In ‘The Incredibles 2’
Two weeks ago, Disney confirmed that The Incredibles director Brad Bird is currently writing a story for a sequel. The original superhero family adventure is one of the studio’s highest regarded films, setting expectations for a follow-up incredibly high. All of the members of the Parr family would likely return, including what may be a grown-up Jack-Jack. We are now hearing that Frozone, a fan-favorite character, is also set to return!
It’s Official: Pixar Working On ‘The Incredibles 2’ and ‘Cars 3’
Last year, Pixar President Ed Catmull detailed the studio’s plans to release an original film every year, and a sequel every other, totaling up to three films every two years. Up to this point, we have seen sequels (and a prequel) for the Toy Story, Cars, and Monsters, Inc. franchises, but there has been one franchise, above all others, that has had a loud group of fans begging for a follow up – Brad Bird’s The Incredibles. Today, Disney announced two Pixar sequels that are in development, The Incredibles 2 and Cars 3.
Awesome: Fan Creates Concept Art For ‘The Incredibles 2’
Ever since Brad Bird directed The Incredibles, there have been fans begging him and the animation studio for a sequel. In interviews for Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (which was a good film with great action set pieces if you haven’t seen it), Bird said he has not had much time to think about an Incredibles sequel but wouldn’t be opposed to making it. Why Hasn’t There Been An ‘Incredibles’ Sequel?
Ever since The Incredibles hit theatres, many fans have been clamoring for a sequel. It is an interesting situation, as many people have also said that they would rather Pixar work on original films. The studio answered that call this year when they announced a slate of brand new films, one taking place in a world where dinosaurs are still roaming around and the other that takes viewers inside the human mind. However, The Incredibles seems to be the one main exception to the “no sequel” call from movie buffs.
