There has been a shift in the last few years, where streaming services have dramatically overtaken physical media in usage. Take one look at Netflix – the company that was famous for mail-in DVD rentals is now one of the largest producers of content in the world, due to the convenience of streaming that it popularized. ‘Piper’ Wins Best Animated Short Oscar For Pixar
Pixar is no stranger at the Oscars. The studio has been a mainstay at the Academy Awards since it started to release animated shorts in the 1980s. Pixar’s roots were recognized once again at the 89th Annual Academy Awards, as Piper, the stunningly beautiful short from director Alan Barillaro, was nominated in the Animated Short Film category. Pixar’s ‘Piper’ Lands Oscar Nomination, ‘Finding Dory’ Left Out
When you walk into the atrium of Pixar’s main building in Emeryville, California, there are many things that catch your eye. First, the size of the space and its architectural design are breathtaking, along with the gorgeous pieces of concept artwork that line the building’s walls. Then you are drawn to the glass case near the entrance which is packed with awards statues the studio has earned over its storied history. Pixar has been a mainstay at the Oscars, even picking up two Best Picture nominations, more than any other animation studio in the business.
