The reason why Pixar did not have a feature film to release in 2014 was because the studio decided to delay The Good Dinosaur into late 2015 in order to polish the film’s story. Although the premise has not changed – it remains a film that takes place in a world where the asteroid never killed off the dinosaurs – there have been many shifts in the story. Pixar Has Apparently “Completely Reimagined” ‘The Good Dinosaur’
Last August, we found out that director Bob Peterson had been taken off The Good Dinosaur after the film apparently hit creative difficulties. A group of Pixar directors including Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3), Mark Andrews (Brave), John Lasseter (Toy Story), and the film’s original co-director Pete Sohn took over. D23 Expo: New ‘The Good Dinosaur’ Details, Neil Patrick Harris, John Lithgow, Bill Hader, And Judy Greer Join Cast
The Good Dinosaur was first announced almost two years ago, at the 2011 D23 Expo. Before this year’s Expo, we heard next to nothing about the film, aside from how the story would revolve around a dinosaur and a boy. Flash forward to today at the Art and Imagination panel and we learned many more details and viewed some great footage and animation tests.
