A few days ago, during promotion for Cars 2, director John Lasseter spoke about Brave to Irish Film & Television Academy guests in Dublin. While many of the previous quotes on Brave have revolved around it being Pixar’s first film where the central character is a female, the Irish Film and Television Network quotes him on the challenge that arises from it also being the studio’s first period film. All the employees have to do is some research on how objects looked in medieval Scotland and can then simply translate that to animation – right? Not really. Bay Citizen Talks Pixar Fandom
The Bay Citizen, one of San Francisco’s news organizations, released an article this morning discussing the unique response Pixar receives from its fans. Other than Disney, no other studio seems to have such a devoted following. ‘Mission Impossible’ Release Date Pushed Back A Week
Deadline is reporting that Paramount has pushed the release date for Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol back five days. Previously scheduled to open on December 16, the film is now set to open closer to Christmas, on December 21. The Brad Bird directed flick is sitting in a particularly crowded field, as the next entries in the Sherlock Holmes and Alvin & The Chipmunks franchises are set to open on the 16th. Additionally, the U.S. version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is now squatting on the same release date as Ghost Protocol. Then, just two days later, another big-bidget Paramount film, The Adventures of Tintin, is racing into theaters, making for a jam-packed Christmas weekend this year. Read on for more on the change! Video of the Day: Real-Life WALL-E
When WALL-E arrived in theaters in 2008, the adorable robot for which the film is named captured the hearts of filmgoers all over. We have seen some great toys created that mimicked the character’s movements, but DJ Sures may have just created one of the cooler models. In a new video, he shows off many of his modified WALL-E’s voice recognition abilities. I assure you, the results are rather hilarious. DJ Sures also shares how he put the cute little thing together. Kelly MacDonald Talks ‘Brave’
During the recent media circus for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, actress Kelly MacDonald, who plays Helena Ravenclaw (The Grey Lady) in the film, also talked to some outlets about her upcoming role in Brave. Speaking to NBC Connecticut, the Scotland-born actress, who is set to play main character Princess Merida, spoke about what she has seen so far of the animated film. Four ‘Harry Potter’ Actors Set To Star In ‘Brave’
While Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is currently smashing box office records left and right, one common question being asked by fans is, “What now?”. The seven book Potter series (and eight part film series) finally reached its conclusion yesterday and people are looking to latch onto another fantasy. When Brave was first announced, I was enthused by Pixar’s first film with a gritty, fantasy feel to it. However, that’s not the only similarity to the series starring the boy wizard. Cars 2 Blu-ray Sets Available For Pre-order
It feels like Cars 2 just came out in theaters a few weeks ago. Oh, yeah – it did. That hasn’t stopped various online retailers from listing upcoming Blu-ray sets for the film. Amazon recently listed the standard three-disc set, along with a bigger five-disc set. It is interesting to note that while Blu-ray/DVD sets are available for pre-order, a DVD-only set has yet to be listed. Similar to Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, it seems that Blu-ray/DVD combo packs (along with Blu-ray only sets) are being pushed to the forefront. Disney has officially released the teaser trailer for John Carter, the live-action directorial debut of Andrew Stanton, director of WALL-E and Finding Nemo. The mysterious teaser holds far more back than it reveals, as the plot is barely touched upon.
