Disney Infinity has proven to be an incredibly successful gaming venture for Disney Interactive, as it has quickly become one of the biggest games in the industry. Last year, after much speculation about whether Disney Infinity would be a game-changer for the company, the game has been just that – millions of starter packs have been sold and individual figures that allow players to play as the characters in the game have also become collector’s items. New ‘Toy Story’ Themed Toy Boxes Hit Disney Infinity
Disney Infinity has proven to be incredibly popular, with sets and figures often selling out at retailers. Recently, it was announced that the gaming platform had sold through over 1 million units, effectively branding the venture a great success for Disney Interactive and developer Avalanche Software. With the holidays rapidly approaching, and the hunt for gifts beginning, sales are just ramping up, especially as Disney has continued to pledge updates and new content. Each week, new Toy Boxes are uploaded for gamers to download (for free!) and explore, providing significantly more replay value than we have come to expect from games in this age. Disney Infinity is an upcoming gaming platform that will combine the characters from various Disney and Pixar properties for the first time. Disney Infinity ‘Cars’ Playset Unveiled With New Trailer and 30+ Images
Disney Infinity is an ambitious new gaming platform that will allow gamers to venture into the world of select Disney/Pixar properties, such as Monsters University, The Incredibles and Pirates of the Caribbean. Additionally, the Toy Box mode within the game lets the various characters interact with one another, potentially making this the largest Disney crossover ever. While the the three aforementioned properties will be included in the Starter Pack, there will be three more playsets that can be purchased at launch. ‘Disney Infinity’ To Be First Game To Include Both Disney And Pixar Characters
The memorable worlds that have been dreamed up by Disney and Pixar number in the dozens. Films and shorts have the ability to transport audiences into escapist fantasy, upon which games can add another level of interaction. Last year’s Disney Universe console game was the first console game to bring together the worlds of the two well-known studios, also allowing gamers to wear costumes inspired by the characters. Disney Infinity, which is set to be formally be announced next month, is set to take it one step further by bringing the actual characters from Pixar and Disney together. First Eyes-On Cars 2: The Video Game
As part of the Cars 2 media event in New York City yesterday, Disney Interactive Group unveiled a playable version of Cars 2: The Video Game. Due in June 2011, the game, which will be available on the XBox 360, PS3, Wii, Nintendo DS, and the PC and MAC, allows players to take control of the various characters in the Cars universe and undergo simulated missions. I had the pleasure of seeing the game in action, and I am pleased to report that it looks to be a fun experience.
The basic storyline is that the Cars characters join up with an agency named C.H.R.O.M.E. (Command Headquarters for Recon Operations & Motorized Espionage) and participate in missions that have been simulated, which opens up the game to many exciting new directions. This allows for the game to remain faithful to the story of the Cars films, which the developer (Avalanche Software) and Pixar seem intent to do. [Read more…]
