As part of the Cars 2 panel that was held today in New York City, Disney debuted two new English characters: Miles Axelrod and Nigel Gearsley. The film continues to add famous individuals to its cast, as comedian Eddie Izzard was announced as the voice of Miles Axelrod. Read on for hi-res images and official descriptions of the characters.

There was quite an announcement this morning, as the Associated Press reported that Pixar (and Disney) Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter will have a small role in the upcoming Cars 2. Today, Disney released a small barrage (oxymoron alert!) of images and descriptions for new Italian characters in Cars 2. Meet Francesco Bernoulli, Uncle Topolino, and Mama Topolino!

The Office is no stranger to Pixar humor. Most recently, an hour-long episode centered around a guest-starring appearance by everybody’s favorite sheriff, Woody from the Toy Story franchise. The writing on the show made what could have easily been a mere reference into a creative use of the character. Last night, the NBC show had another Pixar reference, albeit a much smaller one. We just got to know Cars 2 new character, Carla Veloso, and now we have the pleasure of meeting Raoul ÇaRoule. A native of France, Raoul is another of many new international cars that we will grace the big screen in June. Disney/Pixar has released a hi-res image, a description of the character, and a turntable video, all of which can be seen below:
In the trailer that was released for Cars 2, we saw the appearance of many new characters. During the past several weeks, Disney has unveiled character images and descriptions for the returning cast, as well as for a few brand new characters, Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell. Disney/Pixar has been doing an incredible job connecting with fans, as the animation studio is very active on popular social networking sites, Twitter and Facebook.
On the Cars 2 Facebook page, a tab labeled “Cars Showcase” was recently added. It shows off images and descriptions for all of the characters that have been unveiled so far. However, clicking through to the end shows silhouettes of 20 characters that will likely be revealed in the coming weeks. Most of them were likely present in the trailer, but it will be interesting to see if there any previously unknown characters present amongst the silhouettes.
