Watch: 13-Minute Doc Tells The Story Of Cars Land

Prior to its opening two weeks ago, Cars Land at Disney California Adventure had been in development for over five years. Disney Imagineers wanted visitors to the new section of the park to feel as if they had been transported into the film. To achieve that feat, years of meticulous research and planning were essential. The Blue Sky Cellar, the park’s preview center for upcoming attractions has been playing a short documentary, featuring stories from Cars creator (and Principal Creative Advisor of Walt Disney Imagineering) John Lasseter, along with many of the Imagineers who worked on the extensive project. Take a look at the touching video after the break! [Read more…]

Cafe Where Pixar Came Up With ‘A Bug’s Life,’ ‘Monsters, Inc.,’ ‘Finding Nemo,’ and ‘WALL-E’ Shuts Down

Hidden City Cafe is well-known in Pixar lore, as it is the location of a very special lunch that studio employees had – a lunch where they came up with the ideas for four of its films. Andrew Stanton, John Lasseter, Pete Docter, and Joe Ranft (RIP) gathered for a memorable meal at the cafe, as they outlined ideas that went on to become A Bug’s Life, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, and WALL-E. The cafe has often been visited by Pixar fans, to get a taste of the birthplace of so many of the studio’s films. However, when one fan recently dropped by, he discovered that the place had been shut down. [Read more…]

Watch: ‘Brave’ Says “Happy Father’s Day” In New Promo

With the release of Brave only one week away, there has been an avalanche of promos for the upcoming Pixar film. Many of them have gone the comedic route, parodying such things as informercials and fashion ads. I have always been a fan of the emotional ads, which is why I thought the Mother’s Day Brave promo was the best one in the film’s marketing campaign. With Father’s Day right around the corner (you have less than two days to buy those last-minute presents), Disney/Pixar has released a similar promo, this time focusing on Merida and her father’s relationship. Watch the promo in HD after the jump! [Read more…]

Watch: ‘Brave’ Mother’s Day Video Is The Best Promo Yet

With the mother-daughter relationship lying at the center of the story of Brave, we knew that the film would have heart. Disney/Pixar has just released a Mother’s Day video which is probably the best Brave promo we have seen yet. Tugging at the heart strings, it should give ease to those worried about the film’s story skewing towards its humorous side. Take a look at the Brave “Happy Mother’s Day” video in HD after the jump! Watch: First Ad For Cars Land

There is a little over a month left until the grand opening of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure, which has Imagineers putting the finishing touches on the huge expansion to the park. Much of the buzz about the new themed land has come from announcements made by Disney on the web. Now, Disney Parks has unveiled the first spot featuring a near-finished look at Cars Land. Take a look at the video, which stars a few Cars characters you may recognize, after the jump! [Read more…]

Watch: ‘Brave’ Kilt Featurette Parodies Fashion Ads

With Brave set in ancient Scotland, kilts are the go-to article of clothing for the male characters of the film. Pixar actually designed the unique patterns on the kilts that represent each of the various tribes of the kingdom. You can eye the designs in a new featurette released exclusively by Apple Trailers, which parodies the often (unintentionally) hilarious fashion ads that play on TV and movie screens. You can check more about fashion trends at UrbanBurger. Take a look at the Brave featurette in HD after the jump! [Read more…]

Watch: ‘Brave’ Featurette Profiles Merida’s Triplet Brothers

Earlier today, Fandango debuted a new Brave featurette introducing us to the red-haired triplet brothers of Merida. Named Harris, Hubert, and Hamish, the trio don’t utter a single word in the entire film, but there is a whole lot of giggling that comes from them. Obsessed with sweets, they are a group of practical jokers who will do what they can to satisfy their drive for sugar. Check out the featurette after the jump! [Read more…]
