Four Untitled Pixar Films Set For Release In 2016-2018

Over the years, Pixar has increased the number of its employees in order to better manage the building scope of its films. This expansion has not yet allowed them to release more than one feature film in a year, though. There have been a number of times in the past few years that two Pixar films were scheduled to bow in theaters in the same year, but dates were eventually shuffled. Pete Docter‘s Inside Out and Andrew Stanton‘s Finding Dory are currently slated for 2015, so we may finally see two releases in a year from Pixar soon. Disney just announced the release dates for four Pixar films that are scheduled to hit from 2016 to 2018, which means two more films have been scheduled to arrive in one year. The day where we will see two Pixar films in one year is now rapidly approaching.

‘Day & Night’ Director Teddy Newton Developing New Pixar Film With ‘Safety Not Guaranteed’ Writer

Teddy Newton has been at Pixar since he came over to the studio with Brad Bird to work on The Incredibles. He has taken up small acting roles to great effect several times (he voiced the newsreel narrator in the aforementioned The Incredibles, Chatter Telephone in Toy Story 3, and Mini Buzz in the Toy Story Toon, Small Fry). Not only is he skilled with his voice, but he also worked on the story for the Jack-Jack Attack short and directed the Oscar-nominated short Day & Night. Now, we have learned that he is currently developing a brand new film for the animation studio.

Next Pixar Short To Be Scored By ‘Eternal Sunshine’ Composer Jon Brion

Two weeks ago, I came across a blog named Rainy City Tales 332 that seemed to be virally marketing a brand new Pixar short. I found various clues scattered throughout the blog, such as a Pizza Planet reference and a supposed hint at Monsters University. While there was strong evidence that Rainy City Tales was throwing us hints about the next Pixar short, a new article from The Playlist seems to solidify the blog’s nature even further, confirming that the short film will revolve around an umbrella and will be scored by great composer Jon Brion. Exclusive: Viral Marketing Reveals New Pixar Short?

Throughout its success with feature-length films, Pixar has maintained focus on short films as well. Last year’s La Luna was arguably one of the best shorts from the animation studio, receiving widespread critical praise and an Oscar nomination. We have come across some viral marketing that may very well allude to what it may be. [Read more…]

Director Lee Unkrich Begins Work On Unannounced Pixar Film

Last month, Pixar officially unveiled two films that will be hitting theaters worldwide in 2013 and 2014, The Untitled Pixar Movie About Dinosaurs and The Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind. Given the lengthy amount of time it takes to conceptualize an idea and turn it into a full-blown animated film, the studio is always working on a number of projects at one point in time. We can add another one to the list, as it looks like Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich has just gotten the greenlight to begin work on his next film. [Read more…]
