For a long time, I have toyed with the idea of launching a sister site to The Pixar Times, one that would primarily cover Disney and its other subsidiaries. I have a great fondness for classic disney animated films along with some of their live-action endeavors. I adore Disney’s theme parks and cruise ships for their attention to detail and storytelling, and for their ability to transport guests to a fantastic place, where incredible customer service is the norm. However, I did not want to start a Disney-centric site without significant planning to ensure its quality. I am pleased to announce that the site is now live, and it is, of course, called The Disney Times.
New Weekly Column: The Pixar Perspective
I have always wanted The Pixar Times to continue evolving over the years. We started out as simply a venue to share the latest in Pixar news. Soon after, we began premiering original artwork (PixArt), a process which is coordinated by illustrator extraordinaire Jerrod Maruyama, and as a team, we started bringing you coverage from special events across the country, such as the D23 Expo in Anaheim, Toy Fair in NY, the Disney Infinity announcement in Hollywood, and film junkets held at Pixar in Emeryville. Today, I am excited to announce that we are adding a weekly column that we hope will provide a space for thoughtful discussion. It’s called The Pixar Perspective.
Some New Features Hit The Pixar Times
Call us crazy for trying to implement all these changes to the design of The Pixar Times just before we head out to cover the huge D23 event this week. Go ahead – you can say it. We’re pretty crazy. However, D23 also served as the big motivator to change some things around and make the blog a bit more user friendly. Originally, the site was hosted on WordPress.com, which made for super-easy blog running. However, I decided to look into self-hosting the site, as many more features are allowed due to the total control we would possess. During the past few days, the site has seamlessly (maybe not so seamless for those who visited the site yesterday afternoon) been ported over and we are now self-hosting the blog! Read on for some new features you will notice around the site, and an upcoming feature we’re very excited about. A Dedicated Hosting may be the right option for you if you are currently experiencing expensive monthly bandwidth costs or overage charges. As well, dedicated server is a great option for new projects that are expected to use over 1000TB of monthly bandwidth to save on bandwidth costs and reduce network congestion. 10 Gbps unmetered connections give you the network capacity to handle some of the most demanding applications. Visit servermania.com/dedicated-servers-hosting site for further details. [Read more…]
The Pixar Times Is Evolving
If you take a look around at The Pixar Times, you may notice that it looks a bit different. We are undergoing some changes, both under-the-hood and aesthetically. Over the next few days, these changes are being implemented. Please excuse the current look of the blog, as this is simply a temporary version. Rest assured that this evolution of the site opens us up to exciting features that were just not possible with the previous format. We should be back and fully functional by Wednesday. Stay tuned!
