Often times, a location or structure can be just as much of a character in a Pixar movie as any monster, superhero or bug. This is particularly evident in our first PixArt feature of 2013. Artist and designer Mario Graciotti (aka Mr-Bluebird on DeviantArt) brings us this beautifully designed tribute to some of the iconic buildings from Pixar films. Take a close look at each carefully constructed location. Graciotti’s attention to detail is what makes this and all of his other work such a feast for the eyes. Take a closer look at Mario’s artwork and read his story after the break!

PixArt: October 2012 Feature – A Monstrous Halloween
It’s no secret that we’re huge fans of Andrew Kolb‘s work. His images have been featured often on these pages both as a featured artist and in our tributes. We are extremely pleased to welcome him back to PixArt – he has provided us with a wonderful Halloween-themed Monsters image, which features Mike, Sulley, and Boo celebrating the holiday in style. Kolb never disappoints. As always, we are so charmed by his work and sincerely grateful for the contribution. View his fantastic artwork in hi-res after the jump!
Watch: ‘Monsters, Inc. 3D’ Trailer
Taking into account the fact that Pixar has never released more than one feature film per year, 2012’s privilege of three films from the animation studio is quite special. Yes, both Finding Nemo and Monsters, Inc. are being re-released in 3D and are not brand new films, but having the chance to take in classic Pixar films on the big screen is a wonderful opportunity. Disney/Pixar has just released the new trailer advertising the 3D re-release of Monsters, Inc., which you can watch in HD after the break!
Sneak Peek: ‘Monsters, Inc. 3D’ Theatrical Poster
Finding Nemo 3D is still a few weeks away from release in North America, but Monsters, Inc. 3D is not too far behind. Last month, Disney bumped up the release of the original Monsters film, claiming December for its new month of release – that puts the film just under four months away. You likely will not see posters for Monsters in theater lobbies until Nemo has arrived, but we have a sneak peek at the poster you will be seeing. Take a look at the great poster after the break!
‘Art of Monsters, Inc.’ Hardcover Returns To Print After Being Unavailable For Years
One of the reasons why Monsters, Inc. is one of my favorite Pixar films is the imaginative world created by director Pete Docter and his supporting staff – the character design and architecture of Monstropolis are incredibly creative, bringing a unique bustling city to life on the screen. Back in 2001, Monsters, Inc. was the first film to receive the “Art of…” treatment from Chronicle Books, which has gone on to release a stunning art book for each subsequent Pixar release. After being unavailable for sale through retailers for years, the hardcover book is now back in print! [Read more…]
‘Monsters, Inc. 3D’ Now Set For Release In December
Did you ever think there would be a year where we would see three Pixar feature films hit theaters? 2012 seems to be the answer…well, kind of. Disney and Pixar are re-releasing Finding Nemo and Monsters, Inc. in 3D, and while Nemo is still sitting on its September release, there are now reports that Disney has pushed Monsters, Inc 3D up from 2013 into 2012. Read on for more details after the break! [Read more…]
