Exclusive: Story Supervisor Nate Stanton Talks Cars 2
A few months back, I had the chance to sit down for an exclusive interview with Cars 2 Story Supervisor Nate Stanton. We learn great new details about how the creative team had to cut scenes that were deemed too dark to make the cut. Yes, Pixar was determined to make a great spy film. Read on for an enlightening interview with Stanton! [Read more…]

Disney.com premiered the longest clip from Cars 2 yet, coming in a little under five minutes. The new footage provides some hints to the plot of the film, but leaves it mysterious enough that it is not really spoiler-ific. Lightning McQueen, Francesco Bernoulli and the rest of the racers in the first race of the World Grand Prix are going head-to-head on the track when something goes horribly wrong. Also, Mater hears a voice in his head! Check out the full clip exclusively on Disney’s Official Website. [Read more…]

Film Review: Cars 2
I have to say that I was surprised when Pixar greenlit a sequel to Cars. Why would the studio set out to make another Cars, when the original is often referred to as their weakest film? Personally, I enjoyed the first film. Yes, it is not my favorite project to come out of Emeryville, but it was not a bad film by any means. I was intrigued when I found out that Cars 2 would be a spy film – not a parody of a spy film, but a bona fide spy adventure. On those grounds, it succeeds in a big way, as the action sequences are pretty fantastic and it moves at almost a breathtaking pace. It is an enjoyable adventure film, but if you come in looking for much more than that, you may not walk out of the theater completely satisfied. Read on for a spoiler-free review! [Read more…]

Cars 2 Clocks In At Under 2 Hours
A film has to delicately balance its running time – too long and audiences will be left snoring – too short and viewers will be left feeling as if the film were missing something. Pixar’s films often move at a fairly brisk pace, slowing down enough for people to identify with and care for the characters. While many of their films have floated around the 90 and 100-minute mark, the original Cars is the longest film from the animation studio, at 1 hour 57 minutes. Well, the official running time for Cars 2 was recently released and it is not quite as long as its predecessor. However, it is not much shorter either. [Read more…]
