Pixar SparkShort To Feature A Non-verbal, Autistic Girl

Pixar’s SparkShorts initiative launched earlier this year with the release of several shorts online. The program provided a platform to fresh voices who had yet to direct a feature or short film at the studio. It was created to find a “new creative spark” or a few and based on what we have seen so far, it appears Pixar has succeeded. Three SparkShorts have been released thus far – a few more are on the way, including one that spotlights “a non-verbal autistic girl.” [Read more…]

A Look At ‘Toy Story’ Wind-Up Toys Available At The Disney Store

With the release of Toy Story 4, it is no surprise that one of the most exciting aspects of the franchise returning to theaters is all of the wonderful merchandise headed to stores. There is an incredible depth in the options of toys that are available, from those that tie-in with the latest film to others that celebrate characters and moments from previous films. [Read more…]

There Are Five Pixar Films Coming In The Next Three Years

Earlier this year, Disney completed its acquisition of Fox, which means that in addition to Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm, Disney now also owns Fox film and TV properties. This may not sound relevant to Pixar, given that each Disney subsidiary mostly functions independently. However, all of these studios will be sharing a packed release calendar and Disney will be spacing out all of its films so they do not cannibalize each other. [Read more…]

Buy “The Art of Toy Story 4” Now – Preview The Gorgeous Concept Artwork

When a movie is great, one of the first things that I want to do is pick up a behind-the-scenes book or watch the special features on the Blu-ray or DVD set. I want to immerse myself in the world of the film and learn, first-hand from the filmmakers, what it took to bring this great piece of art to the big screen. Speaking of art, looking at beautiful pieces of concept art is perhaps my favorite way to dive into the minds of the creatives who brought the film to life. [Read more…]

In ‘Toy Story 4’ Bonnie Takes A Cue From Andy

The Toy Story trilogy was Andy’s story. He had a way of playing with his toys that instantly connected with people of all ages and reminded them of their relationships with their own toys. The third film concluded with Andy’s story coming to an end. The baton has been passed to Bonnie, who is now the main human character that plays with the toys. There is one moment in the newest TV spot that appears to signify how the toys are truly in a new era. [Read more…]

Watch Forky Come To Life In New ‘Toy Story 4’ Commercial

Watch Forky Come To Life In New ‘Toy Story 4’ Commercial

In all of the Toy Story films, we have seen toys come to life – Woody, Jessie, Buzz, and Bo Peep all came alive when Andy or other humans were not around. What do all of these toys have in common? They were manufactured by companies and bought in toy stores. Toy Story 4 is about to blow that concept wide open as we learn that, in the film, Bonnie creates a toy and it comes to life! It sounds a bit unnerving. Watch the birth of this character and see him come alive after the jump. [Read more…]

New ‘Toy Story 4’ TV Ad Is A Perfect Homage To Classic Toy Commercials

When Toy Story 3 saw release in 2010, the marketing for the film included commercials that were pitch perfect homages to toy commercials from the 80s and 90s. The ads were not only incredibly creative but were also very funny. You know what they say – “if it ain’t broke…”. The Toy Story 4 marketing team just released a new TV spot that seeks to recreate some of the success of the previous film’s pre-release excitement. [Read more…]

Hollywood Studios’ 30th Anniversary Celebration Accompanied By More Pixar At The Park

Yesterday, Disney’s Hollywood Studios park at Walt Disney World celebrated its 30th Anniversary. When the park first debuted in 1989, it was named MGM Studios and it would be years before Pixar released its first feature film, Toy Story. Now, Pixar enjoys a large presence at the theme park, with several of the most popular rides being Toy Story-themed. In line with the Studios’ anniversary celebration, Disney unveiled its new logo and it is clear that Pixar will be a significant part of the park’s brand identity for years to come. [Read more…]

New ‘Toy Story’ Sit-Down Restaurant Headed To Walt Disney World

Last year, Toy Story Land opened in Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios to great fanfare and brought with it two brand new rides – Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers. In addition, there was a walk-up food station dubbed Woody’s Lunch Box, where guests could grab sandwiches and other simple food items. For those looking for something more elaborate to eat had to exit the land and head to a different part of the park. That will be changing in the near future. [Read more…]

Beautiful New Pixar Prints Available Now For International Shipping

It is always a treat to see artists’ work. One of my favorite parts of when a new Pixar film is released is having a chance to look through the consistently gorgeous art books that accompany the film. Although the fluid animation seen in the finished product is a visual delight, there is something special that a still image can convey. Beyond artists at the studio, there are talented freelance artists aplenty who often lend a distinct voice to the characters they draw. A new collaboration has presented us with a collection of beautiful new Pixar prints – take a look at them here!
