We may be anxiously waiting for Toy Story 4, which arrives in theaters next month, but Pixar has much more that it is working on as we speak. The studio appears to be working on a string of original films, with its 2020 film featuring a story with fantasy elements. Titled Onward, the film is being directed by Dan Scanlon and today we have our first look at what the characters will look like!
The synopsis for Onward sets the film in a “suburban fantasy world.” Characters in the film are set to include traditional fantasy creatures like elves, trolls, and unicorns. It was recently announced that actors Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus would be voicing characters.
Disney shared details and images of the characters with People. According to the article, these actors will make up a family. There are elf brothers, a “boisterous older brother” named Barley (played by Pratt) and a “gawky, more reserved younger sibling” named Ian (played by Holland). The two “go out on an adventure to see if there’s a little magic left in that world.” Their mother will be played by Louis-Dreyfus.
