‘The Good Dinosaur’ Gets New Logo And Stunning Concept Art

December 30, 2014 by Samad Rizvi 1 Comment

With all the excitement about Pixar’s June 2015 film, Inside Out, it may be easy to forget that the studio has another film that will be released during the calendar year – The Good Dinosaur. The dinosaur film was pushed back from its original 2014 release date to undergo major story changes, but now it seems to be sailing smoothly towards its late 2015 release date. In a preview of its upcoming films, Disney sent out a press kit for 2015, in which a new logo and concept art for the film were revealed. Take a peek at them after the break!

We have seen several title treatments for The Good Dinosaur, the first of which debuted at the D23 Expo in 2011 when the film was still untitled. It led to the humorous unofficial name, “The Untitled Pixar Movie About Dinosaurs” (above). Of course, that name was never meant to last, no matter how much people pegged it as a fun and unique name. Still, it was cool to see the silhouette of the main character, Arlo, represented in the logo.

In the new title treatment, that silhouette has been removed, and the font of the actual title of the film has a “prehistoric” feel to it, with rugged edges to the letters. Additionally, the “The” is highlighted, with a bumpy line placed underneath it, adding to the imperfect look, clearly meant to reflect the story’s rough (and undeveloped) setting. Take a look at it below:

The synopsis provided for the overhauled story follows below:

“The Good Dinosaur” asks the generations-old question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?  In theaters November 25, 2015, the film is a humorous and exciting original story about Arlo, a lively Apatosaurus with a big heart.  After a traumatic event unsettles Arlo’s family, he sets out on a remarkable journey, gaining an unlikely companion along the way – a human boy.  “The Good Dinosaur” is an extraordinary journey of self-discovery full of thrilling adventure, hilarious characters and poignant heart.

In the new piece of concept art accompanying the logo, we can see Arlo and the human boy he meets staring off into the distance. While Pixar has previously said the boy would be named Spot, we do not know if that has carried over to this version of the story. Take a look at the stunning concept art below:

Now that is a beautiful piece of artwork you could hang in your home.

The Good Dinosaur directed by Peter Sohn, is slated for release on November 25th, 2015!
