First Look: ‘Toy Story That Time Forgot’ Poster Is Epic

July 21, 2014 by Samad Rizvi Leave a Comment

This week, tens of thousands of fans from all over the world will descend upon San Diego for its annual Comic Con. The massive event, in the past decade, has evolved into more of a pop culture show, with popular movies and TV shows sharing exclusive first looks and details with those in attendance. With no D23 Expo being held this year, Pixar is heading out to Comic Con, where it will be holding a panel for its upcoming holiday TV special, Toy Story That Time Forgot. Take a look at the epic poster for the special, which will be given away to panel attendees!

Toy Story That Time Forgot Mike Mignola Poster

Recruiting famed comic book artist Mike Mignola, famous for his distinct art style seen in the pages of his creations such as Hellboy, the Toy Story special’s poster stands apart from what we are used to seeing from the animation studio, which is what makes it so great. TV Line debuted the image, which features dinosaurs, including who is unmistakably Trixie the Triceratops, voiced by Kristen Schaal in her previous Toy Story appearances. The dinosaur stealing the spotlight in the poster, though, is Reptillus Maximus, who is voiced by Kevin McKidd (he previously voiced Lord and Young MacGuffin in Brave). While we do not have lengthy plot details for the half-hour special, Pixar previously released a brief synopsis:

During a post-Christmas play date, the gang find themselves in uncharted territory when the coolest set of action figures ever turn out to be dangerously delusional. It’s all up to Trixie, the triceratops, if the gang hopes to return to Bonnie’s room in this Toy Story That Time Forgot.

The Comic Con panel, which TV Line reports will be moderated by composer Michael Giacchino, is scheduled to be held on Thursday at 11:15 am PST in Room 6A:

Calling all Toy Story fans! ABC and Disney•Pixar present an exclusive first look at the upcoming holiday special, Toy Story That Time Forgot. Executive producer Galyn Susman (Toy Story OF TERROR!), director Steve Purcell (Brave), and head of story Derek Thompson (WALL•E) give you an exclusive inside look at the sketches, storyboards, and concepts that went into the making of this Disney•Pixar special!

Scheduled to join the Pixar creatives, in addition to Giacchino, are Schaal and McKidd. In recent years, Pixar has shied away from the mega convention, so for those lucky enough to already have tickets to the show, head over for the rare opportunity and secure yourself the fantastic poster.

Toy Story That Time Forgot will premiere on ABC around Christmas. The exact air date is not yet known, but that could very well be announced at this week’s Comic Con panel.
