Ratatouille is one of Pixar’s most unique films, with the story revolving around a rat who discovers he is incredibly talented when it comes to cooking. It does not sound like an idea that would translate easily to an attraction at a theme park, but then again, the idea did not sound like it would work on the screen either, but we know how that went. An ambitious Ratatouille ride is on the way to Disneyland Paris this summer and we have just learned its opening date – July 10th!
The attraction, called “Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy” (and simply, “Ratatouille: The Ride,” in English) is the first major ride revolving around the Pixar film. Coupled with Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure, it will easily be one of the biggest Pixar attractions in the world, with riders going on a fast-paced journey through Paris before landing at Gusteau’s, all from the perspective of a rat.
Get your first look at how the ride will look on the inside in the video below:
Seen in the video is Pixar’s Roger Gould, whose job is to collaborate with Disney Parks on ensuring that Pixar is well-represented in the theme park world. Along with Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald, he speaks about the scope of the attraction and gives us a preview of how it will look. Interestingly, Pixar provided brand new animation just for the ride, which we have seen in the past from previous attractions involving the company’s characters.
The video culminates by providing the official opening date – July 10th at Disneyland Paris. The ride will actually be housed in a new Ratatouille-themed area of the park, which will also include a restaurant (Le Bistrot Chez Rémy), a plaza (La Place de Rémy) where guests will have the opportunity to meet and greet characters from the film, and a boutique (Chez Marianne Souvenirs de Paris). It is an exciting time for fans of Ratatouille, as well as those who like to enjoy new attractions – by the looks of it, the ride will be a great new addition to the world of Disney Parks.
