Over the years, Vinylmation figures have become very popular in the collectors market. While they were originally all shaped like Mickey Mouse, the lines have expanded to include other shapes and sizes, giving the designers and artists who work with them virtually unlimited possibilities. The Mickey-shaped figures continue to be the most widely released, which include the new Monsters University figures that are coming soon. Take a look at the monster figures after the break!
At the Monstrous Summer preview event at Walt Disney World, of which Spaceship Earth turning into a massive Mike Wazowski was the highlight, Disney had upcoming Vinylmation figures out on display. The Monsters University figures, which we have gotten a glimpse at before at Vinylmation Kingdom, can be seen a bit more clearly now. Twitter user @Elantrice-Disney was at the event and shared the photo above (via Vinylmation World).
The line is set to be a collection of 12 figures. In the image above, the top row (from left to right) is made up of Scott “Squishy” Squibbles, James P. “Sulley” Sullivan, Mike Wazowski, and Art. All four are members of the Oozma Kappa (OK) fraternity. In the middle row, we have Archie the Scare Pig and another OK member, Don Carlton. He is followed by Ms. Squibbles, the mother of Squishy. Then, on the bottom row, we have a mixture of fraternity members and a sorority member – left to right is Python Nu Kappa (PNK) member Carrie Williams, George Sanderson (who you may remember from his humorous adventures in Monsters, Inc.), and Roar Omega Roar (ROR) members Johnny Worthington and Randy Boggs.
If you are a math expert, your counting skills may be telling you that these only make up 11. The empty box next to Ms. Squibbles is likely the two-headed Terry & Terri Perry figure (left) that was previewed earlier. Perhaps, his (their) design has not been finalized, and that is why the figure was left out.
There will no-doubt be variants and a mystery figure that should become known in the forseeable future. With the fantastic design of Monsters University Dean Hardscrabble, she seems like a good choice to take the mystery figure spot. We shall know soon.
The Monsters University Vinylmation figures should be available at Disney Parks and in Disney Stores soon.
