Several fundraisers are held on Pixar’s Emeryville campus throughout the year, where attendees can tour the beautiful studio, bid on original pieces of artwork, and watch film screenings, all to benefit a great cause. Two years ago, the JDRF, an organization that leads the way in research on Type 1 Diabetes, held a gala at the studio and screened Cars 2 a week before its general release. Over $1 million was raised that evening, demonstrating the power of such an event. This year, the JDRF fundraiser at Pixar will include a Monsters University pre-release screening, again one week before it opens in North America. Find more details after the break!
Pixar and Disney Animation Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter and his wife Nancy are particularly passionate about raising money for JDRF, as their son Sam was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of nine. The Lasseter family is holding the gala in conjunction with JDRF on Saturday, June 15. In a letter signed by the family, those who are able are invited to participate in the event:
Dear Friends:
Please join us on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Pixar Animation Studios for the Gala Preview of the latest Disney•Pixar film, Monsters University. The net proceeds from this event will benefit JDRF.
JDRF is very important to us as our son Sam has been living with type 1 diabetes for more than twelve years. Each day he is faced with the responsibility of managing his blood glucose levels with at least ten finger sticks. As parents we will do anything to ensure that Sam can live a strong and healthy life, which is why we continue to partner with JDRF to find a cure.
We invite you to join the race to find a cure for all people afflicted by diabetes. Attendees to the Gala Preview will enjoy an elegant black tie dinner party, superb silent and live auctions, dessert reception and an exclusive Pixar Animations Studios campus experience. It promises to be an unforgettable evening.

We believe that JDRF, whose mission is to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications through the support of research, will find a cure for Sam and the millions of others who suffer from this disease and that diabetes will one day be a disease of the past.
Sincerely,
John, Nancy and Sam Lasseter
As noted, individual seats are not on sale yet, as tables of 10, 20, and 30 are the only options. Keep an eye on the JDRF event page to see if they open up closer to the date.
Both Pixar and the Lasseter family are well-known within their communities for their charitable work. It is great to see money raised and given directly to such worthy causes as these.
Thanks to Nancy for sharing news of the event, as well as a photo of the gala poster:
