Often times, a location or structure can be just as much of a character in a Pixar movie as any monster, superhero or bug. This is particularly evident in our first PixArt feature of 2013. Artist and designer Mario Graciotti (aka Mr-Bluebird on DeviantArt) brings us this beautifully designed tribute to some of the iconic buildings from Pixar films. Take a close look at each carefully constructed location. Graciotti’s attention to detail is what makes this and all of his other work such a feast for the eyes. Take a closer look at Mario’s artwork and read his story after the break!

Tell us about your piece:
One of the reasons I love Pixar so much is that even though their movies are each set in a completely different world, they can all easily coexist in the same environment. With that in mind, I put many of the iconic buildings Pixar has created together in the same street, from Pizza Planet to Carl’s house.
Who/What inspires you?
I love the visuals from the 60’s. Be it from illustrations, furniture, architecture, movies or anything else. I also really admire the works of Mary Blair, Rolly Crump, Charley Harper, Eyvind Earle and Chris Ware.
Our thanks to Mario for this fantastic contribution. If you’d like to be considered for one of our monthly features, Contact Us and include a link to your portfolio!
