This past year has been the busiest that we have seen from Pixar, with the release of Brave, La Luna, PartySaurus Rex, Finding Nemo 3D, Monsters, Inc. 3D and the opening of Cars Land in Disney California Adventure. On New Year’s Eve, the animation studio is looking directly ahead, as a number of original films are in the works. Pixar has shared brand new concept artwork for several of its upcoming films over the next few years, which you can take a peek at after the break!
ComingSoon was sent a New Year’s card from Pixar with pre-production art for Monsters University, The Good Dinosaur, The Untitled Pete Docter Film That Takes You Inside The Mind, and The Untitled Lee Unkrich Film About Dia de los Muertos. While we have already seen the MU art (above), the artwork for the other three releases have never been shared this publicly before (The Good Dinosaur artwork was previously shown at the 2011 D23 Expo when the film was formally announced, but cameras were not allowed at the presentation and the art was not released by Disney/Pixar). Take a look at the beautiful images below, which are accompanied by the films’ respective story synopses:
The Good Dinosaur (May 30, 2014)
What if the cataclysmic asteroid that forever changed life on Earth actually missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?
The Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind (June 19, 2015)
From director Pete Docter (“Up,” “Monsters, Inc.”) and producer Jonas Rivera (“Up”), the inventive new film will take you to a place that everyone knows, but no one has ever seen: the world inside the human mind.
The Untitled Pixar Movie About Dia de los Muertos (Release Date TBA – Likely 2016)
From director Lee Unkrich and producer Darla K. Anderson, the filmmaking team behind the Academy Award®-winning “Toy Story 3,” comes a wholly original Pixar Animation Studios film that delves into the vibrant holiday of Día de los Muertos.
Are you excited about these films now?
