Every year, huge crowds flock to San Diego Comic Con to preview upcoming films, shows…and, oh yeah, comic books. Many collectors also venture out to the massive event to add exclusive new items to their collection. Seeing the potential, many toy companies have started to release a limited run of some fantastic collectibles at the show. This year, Funko and Mattel are unleashing exclusive figures, which you can take a closer look at after the break!
Mattel has had unbelievable success with its Cars toys, so it is no surprise to see them releasing an exclusive Mater figure for Comic Con. Priced at $30, the figure brings to life the Cars 2 scene where Mater is outmatched by a high-tech Japanese toilet. It will be available for sale at Mattel’s booth:
Official Description:
This year’s Comic-Con vehicle captures the hilarious scene from Cars 2 when our beloved Mater finds himself in a Tokyo bathroom stall. Just like in the movie, Mater is surprised with flashing lights, catchy music, and a thorough scrub down! This memorable moment comes to life with moving side jets, as well as a jet that springs up to clean Mater’s undercarriage, lifting his back wheels off the floor. Covered in suds, Mater experiences hi-tech action unlike anything he’s ever seen in Radiator Springs!
Our friends over at Take 5 A Day have some exclusive photos and video of the figure in action. Here is what the figure looks like:
While Mattel has Cars covered, Funko is all over Monsters, Inc. and Toy Story. It is releasing exclusive variants to some of the figures from its wildly popular POP! line. The Funko Funatic Forum is the source for the following images (via Vinylmation Kingdom):
Monsters, Inc.‘s Sulley (9″) and Boo (3″) will be packaged together, while the Toy Story Alien (3″) will be sold individually. The figures will both have limited runs of 480 pieces.
Funko is also releasing several 3″ figures based on Disney films. They look so damn adorable that I had to include them below:
All of the figures will be available for sale at Funko’s booth on the show floor. Prices for these figures are still unknown.
I have not yet had the opportunity to attend Comic Con, and these figures are so not helping me feel better.
If we hear more on any late additions to the Pixar collectible line-up, we will make sure to update you on the latest!
