The addition of Cars Land to Disney California Adventure is the main highlight of a massive expansion to Disney California Adventure. With the grand opening set for just a few months from now, work on the new section of the park is nearing completion. Several videos have been released over the past few months, giving us a look at what it is taking to bring the various attractions in Cars Land to life. There is no doubt that there has been a ton of work put in to ensure that the world of Cars is brought to life faithfully. Check out the videos after the jump!
The feature attraction will be Radiator Springs Racers, which will be familiar to riders of Epcot’s Test Track. However, what sets Racers apart is that while riding, visitors will be surrounded by huge mountains taken right from Cars. The level of detail is remarkable. In the videos below, take a look at the intricate process of creating the mountains, and then go on a test ride of the almost-completed attraction:
Luigi’s Flying Tires is sure to be another great ride, directly inspired by the classic but long-retired Flying Saucers ride at Disneyland. Innovations have been made, making the ride far safer than it was 50 years ago. As somebody who never got the chance to ride Flying Saucers, I’m really looking forward to checking this one out. John Lasseter, who has spearheaded the concept for Cars Land, recently took a tire out for a test:
The final ride of the area will be Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, which will be more of an all-ages ride. Sure, it may not satisfy the thrill-seeker, but is on track to be another great family ride. Below is a test ride from a few months back:
Similar to Main Street, USA, which lights up after the sun sets, Cars Land will come alive with neon signs, just like in Cars. It will likely be a popular choice for theme park-goers at night. Here is a video previewing how it will all look at night:
