It has been well known that many Pixar employees are heavily involved in raising money for great causes. One such individual is Daisuke “Dice” Tsutsumi, art director for the acclaimed Toy Story 3 and the upcoming Monsters University, who has co-founded the Sketchtravel project, a unique worldwide art-gathering undertaking. Notable artists such as Studio Ghibli’s Hayao Miyazaki, Disney legend Glen Keane, and Pixar’s own Ronnie del Carmen and Enrico Casarosa, are part of an eclectic group of more than 70 artists who contributed artwork for the project. Now, the mouth-watering collection of all the pieces is being auctioned off. Read on for more details!
Along with his artist friend Gerald Guerlais, Tsutsumi formulated an elaborate plan to have a sketchbook passed from artist to artist, with each person adding their own piece of artwork. The cause that the project is benefiting? – Room To Read, an organization that provides books and other literature to children around the globe, in support of literacy.
The original sketchbook comes in a hand carved wood case. For more details on the October 17th auction and learn how to bid, visit Sketchtravel’s fantastically creative website. Also, check out the project’s Twitter and Facebook pages to stay caught up on all of its updates.
