The Pixar Times Is Heading To D23

August 12, 2011 by Samad Rizvi Leave a Comment

The D23 Expo is a baby compared to many of the conventions that have been around for years. The 2011 iteration is only the second time that this all-Disney event is being held, with 2009 being the first. Walt Disney Studios was already a huge film studio – however, add Pixar and Marvel into the equation and Disney is a monster. Disney, Pixar, and Marvel are all set to hold presentations for their films, making the 2011 D23 Expo a can’t-miss event. When all of the Pixar presentations were detailed earlier this week, the final decision was made – The Pixar Times was going to provide D23 coverage from the Anaheim Convention Center.

Jerrod Maruyama and myself are going to bring you all the details on upcoming Pixar films, including Brave and Monsters University. Other than a teaser trailer and some images from Brave, we have not seen anything else from those two films. After this week, we now know that D23 has evolved into a much bigger show. Given that detail, there may very well be some surprises in store as well. Whether that means new pieces of concept art, unseen clips, or even announcements on what the 2013 and 2014 Pixar films will be, the presentations are sure to be a wonder.

This being Pixar’s 25th Anniversary, Disney and Pixar are going all out on the Emeryville studio’s presentations. Several panels and screenings are set to be held, including a screening of La Luna during the Pixar Shorts panel on Friday. There have only been a few La Luna screenings around the world up until this point, so the Enrico Casarosa-directed short is surely an exciting addition.
