Pixar’s RenderMan SIGGRAPH Booth Oozes With Creativity + Pixar Speaker Schedule

August 9, 2011 by Samad Rizvi Leave a Comment

We have come to expect the very best of Pixar when it comes to the studio’s films. Another area, we have come to expect creativity is at the studio’s RenderMan booth at the annual SIGGRAPH conference, a show highlighting computer graphics. Given the computer graphics theme, the 38th iteration of the show, taking place in Vancouver this year, features a big Pixar presence – one has to go no further than the design of their booth to know that. Take a look at the very cool booth here!

With Cars 2 being the Pixar film of the year, the presentations at the booth and in conference rooms at the show will naturally revolve around the technical aspects of the studio’s racing film. The twelfth Pixar feature film obviously had an influence on the design of the booth as well. Take a look at the black colored section that looks like tire treads – that is actually the seating area of the booth. Mind boggling!

The exhibition begins tomorrow, August 9, and runs through Thursday, August 11.

Here is a preliminary schedule of talks and courses involving Pixar employees (Note: All of these talks and courses are presented along with employees from additional companies. These Pixar presenters will share their session time with their peers.):

For those attending, make sure to keep in touch with Pixar’s RenderMan booth for up-to-date changes to the speaker schedule. Also available at the booth will be the exclusive RenderMan Teapot collectible, which will likely be fully revealed online tomorrow. According to Pixar’s Peter Moxom, Cars 2 posters will be handed out at the booth beginning at 9:30 am tomorrow, with the wind-up teapot will be given away starting at 1:00 pm. Expect long lines!
