Attendees of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France are in for a real treat this year, as Disney/Pixar has chosen the venue to debut La Luna, a brand new short from the studio. Directed by Enrico Casarosa, the short will premiere on Monday, June 6, giving the general public its first look at the film in action. It was only last month that La Luna was announced to the world, with it officially wrapping production just recently. The first image from the short created a great deal of buzz, as it was a stunning view into what we have heard is a beautiful film.
Besides screening the film, Annecy will also allow festival-goers to get a behind-the-scenes look from the director himself. Casarosa, who is making his directorial debut, will be on hand to speak about his experience. Here is a description of the talks:
Enrico Casarosa, the writer and director of Pixar’s new animated short La Luna, will explore how he approached making his first animated short at Pixar. Focusing on his original story idea, Enrico will explore some of the creative and technical challenges involved in realizing his vision. With a special screening of La Luna, Enrico will share his experience making this magical world come to life.
The short film will be playing throughout the week at Annecy. For a schedule on where and when those attending the festival can see director Enrico Casarosa speak about the film, visit the official website for Pixar’s RenderMan.
La Luna will play at festivals throughout the year and will likely accompany Brave in theaters in June 2012, though Pixar has not confirmed that yet. Stay tuned for updates on where film lovers around the world can catch La Luna!
