Last week, an image from the production of Pixar’s 2012 film, Brave, was leaked online. It received much attention from the online media as we had yet to see a fully rendered image from the film. In fact, the four pieces of concept art released a few months ago had been the only visual representation of the film. The leaked image created a deal of excitement for the highly-anticiapted project and had many assuming that the image was taken from the teaser trailer that will be playing with Cars 2 next month. However, the image is not from the teaser, which makes the leak that much more mysterious.
Our first clue that the above image was not officially released by Disney/Pixar was the amount of motion blur present. Sure, motion blur in the background is rather common, but both Princess Merida and her horse are encased in it as well. Even though the image is quite beautiful, there is no way the studio would publicly release an image of that quality for publicity purposes.
Now, this means that we still have not seen an official image from Brave. The fact that this image is not from the teaser means that it could have come from anywhere. While employees at Pixar may have created it, it was not meant to be publicly consumed and may not even make it into the completed film. Brave has a full year left in production, so at this point nothing is final.
After all this, we have not seen a lick of the Brave teaser. Now, we really do not know what to expect come late June. I don’t know about you but that raises my excitement level even higher. There is not much greater than getting a look at a new Pixar film and based on what I have heard, this upcoming teaser is going to be fantastic.
You can see the Brave teaser in theaters with Cars 2, which smashes its way into theaters on June 24! The wait just got longer, didn’t it?
