TIME released its annual ‘100 Most Influential People in the World’ list and Pixar’s own John Lasseter made the cut. As Chief Creative Officer of Pixar and Disney, Lasseter is one of the most powerful people in film. Even with his executive positions at the two companies, he has somehow managed to find time to direct the upcoming Cars 2. Read on to see what TIME had to say about the Hawaiian-shirt-loving man. (EDIT: Thanks to PogieJoe, who alerted us that Pixar voice actor extraordinaire John Ratzenberger wrote the blurb on Lasseter.)
Calling Lasseter “the master fabricator of joy,” Ratzenberger says:
John’s style never reaches below the belt for the cheap laugh. He is John Lasseter because of a high standard of art, perception and fun that everyone in every language can relate to and enjoy. He surrounds himself with people who share the values and work ethic necessary to maintain that standard — now recognized worldwide as simply Pixar.
Instrumental in the process of bringing Pixar to where it is today, he also served as an executive producer on Disney’s Tangled, which has gone on to become one of the most popular recent films from the Mouse House.
