With the wedding of a couple of non-famous people coming up in England, we felt it was a good time to share some of the extensive work done by the Cars 2 crew to create a London that felt familiar but also appropriate for the Cars world. The approach that the filmmakers took was to take buildings and other structures and ‘car-ify’ them by making subtle changes to them. Take a look at a few examples of famous landmarks from the city and how they were smartly altered to fit into the animated film.
In the image above, the arches in Big Bentley were made with car grills in mind because it helps the audience to actually feel they are in a world inhabited by cars. Minute details have always been a strength on the creative team at Pixar and it looks like they have gone down that road once again. We will have some more images up soon that show off what the studio has done with Japan and Italy.
We are rapidly approaching the two-month mark to Cars 2. The film rolls into theaters on June 24!
