Recently, Amazon listed a new art book celebrating Pixar’s 25th Anniversary that is due for release in November of this year. The book title that the popular retailer has listed is “The Art of Pixar: 25th Anniversary: The Complete Color Scripts and Select Art From 25 Years of Animation.” While we knew the book would focus on the color scripts from Pixar’s various films, we were a bit unsure of what the book would include. Now, we have a description for the book, which you can check out here.
The product description that Amazon has listed says:
Pixar is 25 years old in 2011. This gorgeous, expansive book features the complete colour scripts and a selection of the best of the art from the twelve films to date: “Toy Story”, “A Bug’s Life”, “Toy Story 2”, “Monsters Inc.”, “Finding Nemo”, “The Incredibles”, “Cars”, “Ratatouille”, “WALL E”, “Up”, “Toy Story 3” and “Cars 2”. The full-colour scripts for each film, prominently featured, constitute a big selling point for the core animation audience. Geared toward animation fans, this text is minimal and the art is extensive and stunning. Text will just be a foreword by Pixar founder John Lasseter, with an introduction by Amid Amidi. It’s all about the art!
The color scripts have always been a highlight in the art books that Chronicle Books has released in conjunction with Pixar, so seeing them all collected here together will make for an amazing book. On top of that, we are getting more artwork from the studio’s complete slate of feature films. It will be interesting to see how much of the art will be seen by the public for the first time. As the book says, “it’s all about the art,” and the more art, the better!
We are awaiting a cover image to the book, which should be released in the coming months. For now, Amazon has listed a release date of November 2 for the book. That is going to be one long wait!
