In the newest issue of Entertainment Weekly, the popular magazine has a first look at the new Toy Story short entitled Hawaiian Vacation. The Toy Story Toon is set to hit theaters alongside Cars 2 on June 24, 2011. We have a scan of the magazine’s first look, which you can take a look at here:
The images are exciting as they are our first look at the life of the toys after Toy Story 3. The main narrative of the film trilogy may have come to an end but Disney/Pixar still has stories to tell. Not only are we getting Hawaiian Vacation, but we will also see a second Toy Story Toon with The Muppets late this year.
The other big news is that Gary Rydstrom is in the director’s chair for the short. Last year it was officially announced that newt had been taken out of production, which Rydstrom had been attached to direct. It is great to see that Pixar found a nice project for him to work on as he shined on the Lifted short.
