Earlier today, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences issued a press release detailing who will perform at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. It has been confirmed that Randy Newman, the man behind the instantly recognizable Toy Story trilogy soundtrack, will sing “We Belong Together,” the song that plays with the epilogue of Toy Story 3.
As the musical performances tend to take a significant amount of time, the show’s producers have sometimes made controversial decisions to tackle the time issue. On some telecasts, the songs have been combined together into a medley. This year, there were rumors that the YouTube-famous PS 22 chorus (who were invited to perform on the show) might be belting out the songs. Watching the talented group of children perform will likely bring smiles to the faces of audiences around the world, but it is nice to see that the school chorus’ performance will not be at the expense of the nominated artists.
Randy Newman will perform on the Oscars telecast, which will be aired live on Sunday, February 27, 2011.
