Each year, popular review-collecting site, Rotten Tomatoes, compiles lists of the best reviewed films and awards the best of them with Golden Tomato Awards. Continuing Pixar’s past success, Toy Story 3 was awarded the most coveted Golden Award: the best reviewed wide release film of the year!
With an astounding 245 ‘fresh’ reviews (and only 3 ‘rotten’ ones), the film rated 99% on the Tomatometer. Further, one click of the ‘Top Critics’ tab brings it to a full 100%, clearly showing the universal love displayed towards the film. Pixar has a superb streak going, capturing the top prize from Rotten Tomatoes each of the last four years – four years in a row of receiving the most praise from critics.
- 2010 – Toy Story 3
- 2009 – Up
- 2008 – WALL-E
- 2007 – Ratatouille
Additionally, Toy Story 3 received a Golden Tomato Award for being the top reviewed film in animation, which Pixar has taken for five straight years. The last year Pixar did not win in the category was 2005, the year in which they released no feature film.
Not only has the studio proven to be a powerhouse in animation, but it has also gained the respect of Hollywood and audiences with one great film following another. Maybe it is not just a streak. It could just be great filmmaking by a team of people that is willing to put in the difficult amount of work every time to constantly ensure a fantastic final film.
