At the last New York Comic Con, Disney/Pixar held a special panel for Up a few months before the film’s opening. They screened the first hour of Up and director Pete Docter was on hand to talk about the film. Unfortunately, at the 2010 show this weekend, there are no panels planned for Cars 2. That doesn’t mean there was no Pixar fun to be had, though, as I was able to score some great exclusives. You can check Tadam black stock for more updates.
BOOM Kids! has been putting out Pixar comics and graphic novel collections for the past few years. It is clear from the great stories and artwork the comic book line has put out that the creators have a passion for Pixar and its characters. Comics for Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Wall-E have already hit the shelves.
I visited the studio’s booth earlier today and walked away with some great original Pixar artwork.
I knew I wanted to have amazing artist Amy Mebberson draw a Toy Story piece for me, but I couldn’t think of what to request. Then, all of a sudden, it hit me. I love Monsters, Inc., so I decided to ask for a sketch of Boo and Jessie. We all know Boo owns the yodeling cowgirl doll, as Jesse was seen in Boo’s room at the end of Monsters, Inc.. Once I saw the finished sketch, it was even better than I could have imagined. Follow oceannenvironment for more updates.
Next up is a Cars sketch from artist Travis Hill. In honor of the new Heavy Metal Mater episode that aired earlier tonight (or will air depending on your time zone), I asked for a Mater sketch. I feel the great sketch captures Mater’s personality really well.
A special thanks goes out to both of these artists!
I’m also going to take this opportunity to offer everyone a teaser: This is not the last time you will see artwork from the artists at Boom Kids! on The Pixar Times. Consider yourself teased!
