A new Cars Toon in the Mater’s Tall Tales series, entitled “Heavy Metal Mater,” is premiering October 8 on the Disney Channel. The new short is co-directed by John Lasseter and Rob Gibbs. The official synopsis for the episode follows:

Mater is a rock star in a heavy metal band. He starts out in a garage band and rises to the top with his hit song, “Dad Gum.” Lightning McQueen joins him on stage in the middle of a huge concert and they rock into history.

“Heavy Metal Mater,” along with the other Mater’s Tall Tales hits Blu-ray and DVD on November 2. The home release includes two brand new shorts created specifically for the sets, “Mater Private Eye” and “Moon Mater.”
