Comparing the list of Toy Story 3 Blu-ray & DVD special features that were listed by retailers last month with the ones detailed by Disney in their press release, it is interesting to note a few differences. While the majority of the “missing” features have previously been seen (trailers, commercials), the absence of one special feature sticks out: the Cars 2 Sneak Peek. Where did it go? (UPDATE: The teaser trailer WILL be included)
Well, technically, it didn’t go anywhere. The list of special features previously posted by Amazon and other online retailers was unofficial, and any information released prior to a press release is subject to change. Press releases provide an accurate list of what to expect, and in this case it looks like there will not be a teaser for Cars 2 included with this release.
So when can we expect to see footage from Cars 2? It is possible that Disney/Pixar chose to move the Cars 2 trailer to the Cars Toon: Mater’s Tall Tales Blu-ray and DVD sets coming on the same day (Novemeber 2). It would certainly make more sense to bundle a Cars 2 teaser trailer with the Cars Toon sets. We’ll know more when the press release for Mater’s Tall Tales is released.

[EDIT: I neglected to mention that it is entirely possible we are still getting the Cars 2 teaser on the Toy Story 3 sets, but Disney just decided not to include it in the press release. It is certainly a possibility and we shall know for sure in the near future. Overall, I think we’re all excited to get a first look at Pixar’s big film for 2011.]
UPDATE (10/20/10): An individual on the Blu-ray.com forums received his copy of the Toy Story 3 Blu-ray and confirms that we WILL be getting the Cars 2 teaser trailer with the sets.
