The awards season is about to get underway and Toy Story 3 is already beginning to generate buzz. While the largest awards show of the year, the Academy Awards, is still months away, the 14th Annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards (which the New York Times calls “the first mandatory stop in the awards season”) is fast approaching. According to Hollywood News, Toy Story 3 is poised to receive the “Hollywood Animation Award” at the awards show.
Speaking of Toy Story 3 as well as the other announced recipients, Carlos de Abreu, Founder and Director of the festival, said:
“We are honored to have these exceptionally talented artists honored for their outstanding work and creative vision at this year’s festival.”
Awards are not unusual for the Toy Story franchise (or Pixar). Toy Story 2 was named Best Motion Picture (Comedy/Musical) at the Golden Globes in 2000. With the level of critical acclaim the animation studio has attracted for their newest film, receiving the Hollywood Animation Award is likely only the first of many accolades for Toy Story 3, director Lee Unkrich, producer Darla K. Anderson, and the rest of the crew at Pixar.
The Hollywood Awards ceremony will take place on October 25 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
