Toy Story 3 Blu-Ray Commentary Tracks Detailed

August 27, 2010 by Samad Rizvi 1 Comment

Toy Story 3 BD/DVD SetWe already knew that the Blu-Ray versions of Toy Story 3 have a Cine-Explore commentary track and it features director Lee Unkrich and producer Darla K. Anderson. The Cine-Explore commentary feature is the commentary track of the future, as the commentators can share images and such in a split-screen mode with the film playing alongside. The commentary becomes more vibrant and illustrative as there is more interaction between the viewer and the commentators.

Along with the Cine-Explore commentary, there was an additional commentary track listed with the list of Toy Story 3 special features released a few weeks back. Called the “Beyond The Toybox” commentary track, we were unclear on what it would offer or who it would feature. The Pixar Blog reports that Lee Unkrich exclusively revealed to them who the commentators on this track will be:

  • Bobby Podesta – Supervising Animator
  • Mike Venturini – Supervising Animator
  • Bob Pauley – Production Designer
  • Jason Katz – Head of Story
  • Guido Quaroni – Supervising Technical Director

From a fan’s perspective, another commentary track is golden. The Cine-Explore commentary with Unkrich and Anderson will no doubt be engrossing, but an additional commentary track allows for a different take on the film. The “Beyond The Toybox” commentary will be from a unique point of view, coming from animators, the tech crew, and the story department. Prepare to be fascinated!

Special thanks to The Pixar Blog for reporting this exclusive news.
