Pixar’s RenderMan at SIGGRAPH 2010

July 24, 2010 by Samad Rizvi 1 Comment

Each year, Pixar’s RenderMan has a booth at SIGGRAPH (short for Special Interest Group on Graphics and Interactive Techniques), which is an annual conference and exhibition highlighting computer graphics. The conference allows computer professionals to display their work and to connect with others. Currently in its 37th iteration, this year’s show takes place from July 25-29 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

It was at SIGGRAPH 1984 that John Lasseter debuted The Adventures of Andre & Wally B., the short that started it all for Pixar. The studio’s RenderMan, which renders 3D animation and visual effects, has a great looking booth this year:

The booth has also annually unleashed Teapots, which have become collectible items. The Teapot even has its own Facebook page, which you can become a fan of and ‘Like’. This year, the Teapot looks like this:

Does its design remind you of a certain character from Toy Story 3? The Teapot will be available at the booth each day from 1-1:30 PM starting Tuesday, July 27. They are sure to go quick, so they may not be around for the last day of the show. The accompanying tin for the Teapot is below:

The RenderMan booth will also have a great selection of speakers, the list of which you can find here. If you are in the Los Angeles area next week, there is still some time to register for the conference on SIGGRAPH’s official website.

Special thanks to Peter Moxom at RenderMan, who provided the great pictures you see above.
