Watch: ‘Brave’ Featurette Profiles Merida’s Triplet Brothers

BRAVE

Earlier today, Fandango debuted a new Brave featurette introducing us to the red-haired triplet brothers of Merida. Named Harris, Hubert, and Hamish, the trio don’t utter a single word in the entire film, but there is a whole lot of giggling that comes from them. Obsessed with sweets, they are a group of practical jokers who will do what they can to satisfy their drive for sugar. Check out the featurette after the jump! [Read more...]

Closer Look At More Stunning ‘Brave’ Concept Art

BRAVE

The downpour of Brave concept art continues! It’s Art Magazine has debuted several new pieces of concept art from the film, featuring a number of the main characters. We get to see more pre-production artwork for Merida, her family, along with the beautiful landscape of Scotland (which may as well be a character). Again, we have seen these before in the Disney World Brave exhibit, but one cannot deny that it is always better to get a better look at the art in a higher resolution format. Take a peek at the nine pieces of stunning artwork after the jump! [Read more...]

‘Brave’ Concept Art Reveals The King’s Fierce Side

Brave EW - King Fergus

Entertainment Weekly exclusively debuted a new piece of Brave concept art through its tablet version of the magazine. While the art has been seen before in the Brave exhibit at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios, this gives us a closer look at King Fergus. He may be all fun and games in the trailers and images that have featured him up to this point, but he clearly has a fierce side to him. Take a look at the concept art after the jump! [Read more...]

‘Brave’ Concept Art for Merida and Angus

BRAVE

To accompany the new Brave featurette profiling Princess Merida, Disney/Pixar has released official character descriptions along with some concept art giving us a closer look at the main character and her horse Angus. Merida is being told to follow tradition, but the fiery teenager that she is, she does not exactly want to be told what to do. After the jump, read the official descriptions and check out the great pre-production artwork! [Read more...]

How The Legends and Beauty Of Scotland Inspired ‘Brave’

Callanish Standing Stones

On my trip to Pixar last week, we learned a great deal about how the country of Scotland inspired the team working on Brave, which is one of the few Pixar films with a real-life setting. Up, Finding Nemo, and Ratatouille gave us a taste for Pixar’s interpretation of several real locales, and it was often stunning. Two research trips to Scotland were undertaken by Pixar employees to attempt to accurately capture the beautiful and magical qualities of Scotland. After the jump, find out how the country has inspired Brave. [Read more...]

New ‘Brave’ Concept Art Features Mysterious Forest

BRAVE Travel Progression: Forest - Concept Art

I was one of a lucky few invited to learn more about Brave at Pixar last week. We were shown 30 minutes from the film and were able to speak to director Mark Andrews, producer Katherine Sarafian, and several more of the employees who are now working to finish up the film soon. Additionally, we were able to see some of the pre-production art created to give the artists a visual perspective of the film. The art was so stunning and full of personality that I could stand and look at the pieces all day. We now have the chance to do that with a gorgeous piece that Disney/Pixar revealed through their Facebook page. Check it out after the jump! [Read more...]

Close-Up: The Amazing Design of ‘Brave’ Characters

BRAVE

During my trip to Pixar last week to learn more about Brave, we were provided with some fascinating facts about the design of the characters. The studio has made so many technological jumps that the half hour of footage that I viewed far-surpassed anything I have seen come out of the studio before. From Merida’s insanely beautiful hair to King Fergus’ multiple layers of clothing that move together realistically, the design aspect in Brave is something to behold. After the jump, read more about the design of the characters and their clothing. [Read more...]

First Look: New ‘Brave’ Video Game Screenshots Showcase Film’s Fantastical Side

Brave Video Game Next Gen - 2

Just when I have been thinking about how we have not seen much of the fantasy elements that will be present in Brave (outside of the monstrous bear Mor’du and the blue will-o’-the-wisp lights that hover around the forest), Disney Interactive has released some screenshots from the upcoming video game that give us glimpses into the fantastical side of the film. Take a look at the new screenshots after the jump! Just be aware that these images may very well contain spoilers for the film (you won’t know what is happening, but it displays some previously unseen forces). You can rest assured, though, that there will be some sick action sequences in the film. [Read more...]

Celebrate National Tartan Day With ‘Brave’

National Tartan Day

In Brave, each clan wears a specific design on their clothing as a matter of unity and pride amongst its members. The clothing featuring this design is known as a tartan (don’t get caught uttering the world “plaid,” as the Scots in your midst are ready to pounce on you if you do). With today being National Tartan Day, Disney/Pixar is celebrating by raising awareness of the holiday. After the jump, check out some cool details about tartans, Brave, and Scottish culture. [Read more...]

Pictures From ‘Brave’ Press Days At Pixar

BRAVE Press Junket - 19

During our first press day at Pixar, we viewed La Luna and 30 minutes from Brave. Jumping ahead to the second day, we sat in on a good number of discussions with Pixar employees on the many aspects of the film, from wearing kilts, playing bagpipes, engaging in archery, and Scottish culture. I was able to take pictures inside Pixar’s atrium and on the studio’s grounds, where the pieces of art and promo material made it apparent that the release of Brave is coming up fast. Check out the hi-res images after the jump! [Read more...]

First Impressions: 30 Minutes From ‘Brave’

"BRAVE"

I have had a few days to think about the Brave footage that I was able to view on Tuesday night, and there has been no fall in my level of excitement about the film. In fact, it has increased. Pixar screened the first 30 minutes from the film for a select group of bloggers, and while some of the scenes were unfinished (with respects to lighting, animation, etc.), it blew me away. From its stunning look to its epic and hearty story, I have little doubt that Brave will impress. [Read more...]

Brave’s Merida Coming Soon To Disney Parks

Merida Disney World

Merida may not be your typical Disney princess, as it has been reported that Brave will not provide the character with a love interest. However, she will still join other princesses such as Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Belle, in character greeting appearances across Disney parks. Disney recently put out a casting call for Merida, seeking potential look-alikes who are between 5’4″ and 5’6″, and just today officially announced that Pixar’s first princess will be appearing at Disney World and Disneyland. After the jump, check out some cool concept art of how it will come together. [Read more...]

Brave - Angus Wallpaper

Perhaps timed to show the world that Pixar has its own heroine badass who is mighty good with a bow and arrow, a new Brave TV spot has been unleashed. Along with a few glimpses of new scenes, this new spot is set to a rocking soundtrack. Most will recognize the music, Dropkick Murphys’ “I’m Shipping Up To Boston,” which is used here due to the song’s Scottish influence. Check out the new TV spot after the jump! [Read more...]

‘Brave’ Standees Start Hitting Movie Theaters

Brave Theater Standee - 1

With about three months until the release of Brave, the marketing for the film is now starting to push into the halls of movie theaters. Sure, trailers and posters for the Pixar film have been a mainstay in theaters over the past several months, but now standees have also started to pop up. Now, standees don’t sound all that cool, but the design of these cardboard cutouts is actually quite creative. Take a look at the great Brave theater standees after the jump! [Read more...]

WATCH: Epic ‘Brave’ Japanese Trailer

BRAVE

A few days ago, Disney Japan released a new trailer for Brave, and as it normally goes, it showed off a lot (and I mean, a lot) more of the film than the American trailers have. It seems to be more in line with the gorgeous and ominous teaser trailer that was shown in theatres with Cars 2. You can watch the trailer after the jump, but be warned, while the trailer is beautiful and epic, it shows much more footage from Brave. It is packed with more spoilers, especially if you speak Japanese. If you weren’t convinced by the previous trailers, then you will be convinced by this one. Check it out after the jump! BRAVE

This past week has been a big one for Brave, with us getting character descriptions and a new trailer (more like a clip) from the film. Just when you thought you would not hear from Pixar for the next few weeks at least, a new TV spot made a surprise debut during the Oscars last night. Accompanied with a beautiful song in the Scottish Gaelic language, the commercial gives us a haunting look into the film. Check out the great new TV spot after the jump! [Read more...]

The publicity train for Brave keeps on chugging, which is a good thing for those who cannot wait to find out more about Pixar’s latest animated film.
