Over the years, Pixar has increased the number of its employees in order to better manage the building scope of its films. This expansion has not yet allowed them to release more than one feature film in a year, though. There have been a number of times in the past few years that two Pixar films were scheduled to bow in theaters in the same year, but dates were eventually shuffled. Pete Docter‘s Inside Out and Andrew Stanton‘s Finding Dory are currently slated for 2015, so we may finally see two releases in a year from Pixar soon. Disney just announced the release dates for four Pixar films that are scheduled to hit from 2016 to 2018, which means two more films have been scheduled to arrive in one year. The day where we will see two Pixar films in one year is now rapidly approaching.
Teddy Newton has been at Pixar since he came over to the studio with Brad Bird to work on The Incredibles. He has taken up small acting roles to great effect several times (he voiced the newsreel narrator in the aforementioned The Incredibles, Chatter Telephone in Toy Story 3, and Mini Buzz in the Toy Story Toon, Small Fry). Not only is he skilled with his voice, but he also worked on the story for the Jack-Jack Attack short and directed the Oscar-nominated short Day & Night. Now, we have learned that he is currently developing a brand new film for the animation studio.
Two weeks ago, I came across a blog named Rainy City Tales 332 that seemed to be virally marketing a brand new Pixar short. I found various clues scattered throughout the blog, such as a Pizza Planet reference and a supposed hint at Monsters University. While there was strong evidence that Rainy City Tales was throwing us hints about the next Pixar short, a new article from The Playlist seems to solidify the blog’s nature even further, confirming that the short film will revolve around an umbrella and will be scored by great composer Jon Brion. Throughout its success with feature-length films, Pixar has maintained focus on short films as well. Last year’s La Luna was arguably one of the best shorts from the animation studio, receiving widespread critical praise and an Oscar nomination. Around this time last year, we knew that the stunning Enrico Casarosa-directed short would be the studio’s next – but, what is to be the next Pixar short? We have come across some viral marketing that may very well allude to what it may be. [Read more...]
Each year at CinemaCon, movie theater owners gather to get a preview of coming films from movie studios. This year, Pixar used the Disney presentation to announce the title for its previously untitled film about dinosaurs. Additionally, Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich, who was rumored to be working on a brand new Pixar film, is now confirmed to be working on a film due in 2015 or 2016. Get a rundown on the big news after the jump! [Read more...]
Last month, Pixar officially unveiled two films that will be hitting theaters worldwide in 2013 and 2014, The Untitled Pixar Movie About Dinosaurs and The Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind. Given the lengthy amount of time it takes to conceptualize an idea and turn it into a full-blown animated film, the studio is always working on a number of projects at one point in time. We can add another one to the list, as it looks like Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich has just gotten the greenlight to begin work on his next film. [Read more...]
First, we had an untitled Pixar film scheduled for release on November 27, 2013. Now, we have another brand new film from the animation studio, but nary a detail on what the film will be called. Box Office Mojo is reporting that Disney has updated their release schedule and plopped in a Pixar film for release on May 30, 2014. What could this film be? Original characters or a sequel? Box Office Mojo updated its schedule to reflect a new addition made by Disney, an untitled Pixar film due around Thanksgiving 2013. The film will be released in 3-D, but besides that minor detail, Disney and Pixar are silent. We have known for a while that Monsters, Inc. and Up director Pete Docter has been working on a secret project, so it is possible that this is his next film. With this addition, there are now two films scheduled for release in 2013 – Monsters, Inc. 2 and this one. We will have more details as they are announced. For now, this untitled Disney/Pixar film is due in theaters on November 27, 2013! Exciting, right?! [Read more...]
