First Look: Concept Art For ‘The Good Dinosaur,’Inside The Mind’ Film, And ‘Dia de los Muertos’ Film

This past year has been the busiest that we have seen from Pixar, with the release of Brave, La Luna, PartySaurus Rex, Finding Nemo 3D, Monsters, Inc. 3D and the opening of Cars Land in Disney California Adventure. On New Year’s Eve, the animation studio is looking directly ahead, as a number of original films are in the works. Pixar has shared brand new concept artwork for several of its upcoming films over the next few years, which you can take a peek at after the break!

Monsters University - Gates

ComingSoon was sent a New Year’s card from Pixar with pre-production art for Monsters University, The Good Dinosaur, The Untitled Pete Docter Film That Takes You Inside The Mind, and The Untitled Lee Unkrich Film About Dia de los Muertos. While we have already seen the MU art (above), the artwork for the other three releases have never been shared this publicly before (The Good Dinosaur artwork was previously shown at the 2011 D23 Expo when the film was formally announced, but cameras were not allowed at the presentation and the art was not released by Disney/Pixar). Take a look at the beautiful images below, which are accompanied by the films’ respective story synopses:

From director Lee Unkrich and producer Darla K. Anderson, the filmmaking team behind the Academy Award®-winning “Toy Story 3,” comes a wholly original Pixar Animation Studios film that delves into the vibrant holiday of Día de los Muertos.

HOLY MOLLY!!! The art for The Good Dinosaur is AWESOOOME!!! I’m so hyped now! As for the concept art for the Inside The Mind film, it looks like Pete Docter never really ditched his initial idea for Monsters, Inc.

And the Dia de los Muertos art, well, it’s and ‘ofrenda’ which makes sense, since these are set in Dia de los Muertos.

Great post, and what a great way to start the year.
