Last year, we launched PixArt, a section of the blog devoted to sharing great new Pixar artwork created by fans around the world. Originally, the idea was developed to count down to the release of the Toy Story 3 Blu-ray/DVD sets in a unique and exciting way, but PixArt was so popular that it morphed into a place where new art is shared often. With the release of Cars 2 approaching, we decided to launch another countdown. We have two special pieces to begin the countdown and we are excited the artists agreed to share them with us. Without further ado, we declare that the “Cars 2 Countdown” is a go!

23 days until the release of Cars 2 in North American theaters!
Last month, we called out for artists to contribute an original Cars character – not one from the films, but an entirely new vehicle design – and we have received some great submissions. Due to popular demand, we have extended the deadline so illustrators can continue to send us their artwork until the release of Cars 2! The artist who puts together the best piece will win a free copy of The Art of Cars 2 HC. Read more about the rules for the submission process here.
